At Grainfuel our ethanol production process not only creates clean-burning biofuel; it also generates carbon dioxide (CO₂) as a natural by-product of fermentation. The sustainability is at the core of our ethanol production process.

Corn and rice milling processes release significant amounts of CO₂ as a by-product. Instead of releasing this CO₂ into the atmosphere, we capture and store it using advanced technology. During fermentation, yeast converts grain starch into ethanol and CO₂. This CO₂ is biogenic, meaning it originates from plants and is part of the natural carbon cycle Carbonation is the process by which carbon dioxide (CO₂) gets dissolved under high pressure in a liquid. The dissolved CO₂ gives the carbonated drinks their characteristic effervescent nature.

We process the captured CO₂ to meet industry standards and supply it to companies manufacturing carbonated soft drinks and other fizzy beverages. We also supply CO₂ to companies that manufacture dry ice. This capture-and-storage process reduces our environmental impact apart from supporting a circular economy.
